Off the Grid is piloting an Android & iOS mobile (tablet and smartphone) “Creator” app starting with our Fort Mason Center launch on March 6th. This is being launched at the same time as our new Guest App, and will initially facilitate a pickup feature for guests to be notified when their food is ready. These apps will support order ahead and gift certificates for all of our experiences.
In order to successfully implement the Creator App, here are some requirements you will need.
Existing Square account holders will be able to link your existing account within the OTG Creator app.
Creators new to Square, we want to support you with this change in your experience with OTG. We’re offering workshops and onsite support to ensure you have what you need to make this as painless as possible.

Square Chip Reader (for contactless payments and chip)
In October 2015, chip cards and readers (EMV) were introduced as an act of making cards safer to clone. This meant that after that point, the business would be eating the cost of any fraudulent transactions — meaning that instead of the banks and card networks reimbursing the cardholder for the sale, the merchant would eat the cost of the transaction (as well as the cost of any merchandise) in addition to any chargeback fees assessed by the payment processor.*
Chip readers are a safer way to be protected and luckily, Square created a reader that helps with a higher level of security by adding the contactless payment feature (NFC) into this piece of hardware. These payments include:
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Android Pay
Off the Grid has made the integration for any Square chip reader to be accessible through our Creator App within the POS.

Order Pick Up Process
In order to match the Guest App experience to our events, we are introducing a brand new process to Off the Grid Public Markets. Time is very important to everyone, especially when our events are all about making memories while feeling comfortable.
Guests will not have the ability to order and receive a notification once the order is ready for pick up. This will allow them to grab a drink, order more food, or simply spend more time with friends and family. It is important that you are prepared on a process to match the guest experience.
